The world needs multi-talented and hybrid thinkers. Those who challenge the status quo and imagine new possibilities. That’s the Bennington Plan.

Pursue High-Profile Internships Every Year.
Real-world experience has been built into a Bennington education since the beginning. We call it Field Work Term, and it means you're guaranteed not one or two but four internships. Every year you spend six weeks working off campus. This is another reason Bennington graduates earn such high marks from employers: they are truly experienced by the time they graduate and have built a valuable resume as well as earning a degree.
Over the summer, Annika Owenmark '25 completed a Field Work Term experience at Cal Shakes as the coordinator for the youth summer conservatory.
Roberta Martey '25 completed a Field Work Term internship over the summer in Kyoto, Japan, where she worked as an intern on a Social Kitchen project with the Africa Diaspora Network Japan.
Coco Rohde '26 reflected on her Field Work Term experience at Brooklyn Children’s Theatre.
Student Experience
Find your people and engage in an inclusive, vibrant campus culture. You’ll do this from day one in the dining hall, houses, in clubs and organizations, in the library and workshops, at events and beyond.

While Bennington encourages intellectual exploration, I still have space to hone in on the technical requirements for graduate school.
Shlesha Pradhan ’24
Science
The Plan is a great learning experience, because once you get out of school, you have to develop your own plan committee in life.
Sawyer London '24
Visual Arts
The voice here is very strong. And that is what I want to take: to be so passionate about my morals and what I believe in.

Groundbreakers start here. Join them.
Bennington is a place where people come to do what has never been done before. They invented modern dance, founded abstract expressionism, and led the feminist movement. They are pioneering augmented reality, working toward cures, and standing up for the environment. There’s a reason our graduates go further, faster. It’s called the Bennington Plan.
